My June faves

What am I truly loving this month? Well…everything from fashion to food to hair products. It’s a true mish-mosh of stuff. I hope you enjoy reading all about it!

For those of you who don’t know what Stitchfix is, let me break it down for you. It’s basically a stylist service. You order a fix where the shopping is done for you (5 items per fix), it gets delivered to your door, you have 5 days to try on everything, pay for and keep what you like, send back what you don’t like and voila! New items to add to your wardrobe; no mall or trying on in store needed. I have been a Stitchfix customer for 2 years and although there have been 1 or 2 fixes where I wasn’t happy with everything, this latest fix was quite wonderful! All 5 of my items are great, suit my style and fit perfectly. This is definitely a June FAVE!

Side note: guys you’re not left out…Stitchfix also offers this service for men too. It’s especially perfect for those of you who don’t enjoy shopping!

Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk Original Leave in moisturizer
I’m a BIG skeptic of what goes on my body and in my hair (and also being a late comer to the Carol’s Daughter bandwagon), hence I’m not very quick to try new products. I recently came across this lovely product during my last visit to Ulta Beauty (this is a dangerous store for me lol) and am loving what it’s doing for my short, curly, natural hair. I’ve used it in my twist outs, have added it to my wash and go routine and it has been fabulous! It leaves my hair looking moisturized and is lightweight enough for my hair to use it every day. What more can a natural gal ask for?

Sweet Potato Soul
Ever have those moments when you don’t remember how you stumbled upon something amazing on the internet? Jenné of Sweet Potato Soul is just that for me. I found her on YouTube, probably while looking for vegan or vegetarian recipes – this is a current obsession of mine – and there she was. All big, beautiful, natural hair, wide, friendly smile and delicious food to boot! I’ve been hooked ever since and have tried several of her recipes – none have disappointed. My husband Tarik has been converted to actually like lentils – if that isn’t an accomplishment, then I don’t know what is.

Her latest recipe that I’ve tried is her Mango Quinoa Salad. I substituted the mango with chopped pieces of cantaloupe and it was just as delicious! I think next time I’ll add some freshly chopped cilantro though. Check out her YouTube video – Damn good meals under 15 minutes – click here.

I’ve also tried her recipe for her Sweet Potato Thai Green Curry and it was just as yummy!  You can find that on her website too.

Book – Abundance Now: Amplify your life and achieve prosperity today
Yet another obsession of mine (see a theme here) has been audio books. In an effort to divert from reading actual books – which at times I would never finish and have to pay library fees for – I’ve started listening to my books. This has been hugely successful for me for the past few months and this month my Audible purchase was Lisa Nichols’, Abundance Now: Amplify your life and achieve prosperity today. I’m only about the 5th chapter in, but I haven’t been able to listen to anything else since I purchased it last week!

This is my first introduction to Lisa Nichols; yeah, yeah I saw her in the “The Secret” and have seen references to her in Oprah magazine, but I never really paid attention. Big mistake – her approach in this audio book (and this is one of several for her) is so to the point. I’ve taken away so much in just 5 chapters, I’m highly anticipating what the rest of the book will teach me about being abundant!

Abundance Now: Amplify your life and achieve prosperity today by Lisa Nichols is available on Amazon and Audible:

Now this last one is completely random…but blueberries are in season right now and for some reason, I can’t seem to get enough of them! I’ve been having these good for you beauties for breakfast mixed in with some quinoa, almond milk, cinnamon and a dash of vanilla essence, adding them to my salads and snacking on them throughout the day. Since the season is so short (and this is when they’re really good), I recommend that you grab yourself some too!

Okay, that’s it – 5 June faves!  I hope you enjoyed reading. Leave a comment below about your faves this month. I’m always interested in hearing from you…

P.S.: The fabulous photo above is taken with my beautiful sister, Sarah of Videos that Shine at Maracas Beach in Trinidad.  She’s coming to visit soon and I can’t wait!  🙂

like this take a lot of work? I’ve absolutely no expertise in coding however
I was hoping to start my own blog soon. Anyways, should you have any ideas or tips for new blog
owners please share. I know this is off subject nevertheless I simply needed to ask.
    Many thanks!

Hi Frank, thanks for your comment! Blogs in my opinion don’t take that much work especially if you’re writing about something(s) that you love. My biggest tip would be just to have fun with it and don’t take yourself too seriously when writing 🙂 Just get started! I hope this was helpful.
